PETALING JAYA: Those working in the maritime sector, including ship crews, should be recognised for their efforts in helping to ensure the nation’s economy is not disrupted, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister paid tribute to those in the maritime sector on Wednesday (April 28) and also handed over 100 boxes of Hari Raya Aidilfitri cakes and goodies to be distributed to them.
“The delivery of the Raya cakes is to recognise their efforts, serving night and day to ensure the nation’s economy is not disrupted.
“It is hoped that with the cakes on board the ships, the mariners will also be able to celebrate and enjoy the festive atmosphere, ” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post Wednesday (April 28).
Dr Wee said the programme to distribute the goodies had been an annual event organised by Ikhtisas Kelautan Malaysia (Ikmal) since 2016.
